Hi. I am going to be adding SSB to Lorac in the next few weeks. Prior to me purchasing Lorac, she had SSB and retains the insulated backstay, grounding plate and copper ground plane. I will be alright on the installation part, but beyond that point I am again a village idiot. All the dealers are very sure that their product is the best. All make claims of what their radios will do. Question is 1) Are the claims true, 2) Which unit is the best quality for the price, 3) Would I Be better off with Iridium or some other form of satellite phone. etc.... Please give me any advise, wisdom, knowledge and or experience you may have. If I am to shell out another two or three thousand dollars, I would like to feel that I went into fully informed.
