Hi Rick!

We have an older ICOM M710 which works quite well. ICOM still sells them
  and you can also find them on eBay. Since we got ours set up properly,
we've really enjoyed it. The M802 does a more stuff and also has the
advantage of separating the interface from the main unit which will make
installation easier. It's more expensive of course.

We'll probably get an Iridium phone at some point, but the latest news
from China has us thinking that satellites may be less reliable than
we'd previously thought. Time to get a new tinfoil hat! (warning:
totally off-topic link)
