Hi Patrick. This subject was part of a recent discussion. On Lorac, a 79
Baba 30, I have 1.5" PVC tubes, one on each side, which run from the low
point of the anchor well to the bilge under the engine. They are glassed in
and are painted the same blue as the bilge. They keep my V-birth stowage
area dry and free of mud. A problem that I did have was the odors which came
from the forepeak, more specifically the chain in the forepeak. The mud it
brings up can be a bit rank. Fore this I put thin rubber gasket material on
the back side of the louvered doors. This has cut back on the smell. I had
some concern as to mildew build-up from restricting ventilation with the
covering of the doors, but it appears that there is adequate ventilation as
I have had no mildew build-up in two years. I also have two chain deck
pipes.
Fair winds, blue water.
