Thanks for the nice comment. Here is a shot of what it looked like just
before the installation of the overhead panels. Note there is a bunch of
wiring inside and some more still to come when I get the Icom 710 SSB
installed on the upper shelf. The four lugs seen in each opening are
3/4-inch-square oak strips fastened to the backside of the opening to which
the panels are screw-fastened. This facilitates quick and easy access to the
wiring, hookups, and the few fuses located within. The instruments can be
removed or wiring loom changes can be done within one minute with this
system. This also applies to the lower panel. With the removal of six screws
on its face, the entire unit pulls out to expose the backsides of all the
instruments, autopilot control, and the VHF radio.
