The Raritan PH II isn't the same.

The wet/dry "valve" assembly in most other manual toilets, including the
Jabsco and Headmate, isn't really a valve, but is just a little "gate"
inside the pump that the lever swings to block or unblock the flow of
incoming flush water.

The PH II has a rotating "barrel" inside a separate housing mounted on
the front of the pump...a knob on the top of that housing rotates the
barrel to block or unblock the flush water to the pump. The part that
you refer to as a screen is actually a little valve that has a tiny
little diaphragm in it (part # 1203W on the drawing) It's not an air
break/siphon break, but an air pressure relief valve that needs to be
removed and cleaned every now and then. That little flat square piece
with the hole in it looks like it's molded into the wet/dry valve
housing, but it's actually threaded into it. After removing and
cleaning, wrap the threads in Teflon tape to get a good seal before
putting it back. If the ball inside that housing gets stuck, squirting
WD 40 into the hole isn't likely to free it up 'cuz the WD 40 isn't
likely to make it past the diaphragm in the air valve.

Btw, the air valve in original PH and in PH IIs made before 06/92, had a
replaceable diaphragm. The air valve in PH IIs made after 06/92 is a
complete sealed component. Which brings up an important point that most
PH II don't know:

The PH IIs made before and after 06/92 require different rebuild
kits...be sure you get the right one, 'cuz most of the parts are not
interchangeable. The earlier version needs kit PHRKII...the later
version needs kit PHRKIIC. Since most owners aren't even aware that
there are two different version, IMO Raritan should have renamed the
later version PH III.
