Not sure, but if it is like the Raritan, there is a venting screen when
pumping the bowl dry, that should now provide an air-break in the system. On
the Raritan, the screen is on the front of the unit. It's very small, so
look carefully. There is a small ball valve behind the screen. Carefully
disassemble, clean the ball valve. You now should hear a gentle "whoosh"
when pumping dry. This is the relief of the back pressure and the suction of
the pump when emptying the bowl.
Maybe that will help.
You could try to first spray in some WD40 through the screen, and that might
free up the ball valve.
