I have been doing some service on my seacocks and ran into one that needs help. I have it apart and cleaned but just putting the valve into the valve body loosely and turning it I notice it seems to want to "rise" when I turn it 90 degrees. I put some carborundum (sp?) powder in there and turned it about a hundred or two hundred times and now with some grease, it seems OK. If any of you have done some seacock work and can offer some advice on cleaning and adjusting, I would appreciate your input.

I was also cleaning and inspecting the rigging and found a hairline crack in a swage on one of the whisker stays. I will replace all of it using stay locks or ? but I suppose the end that goes in the turn buckle will need to be replaced with a thread of the same type (stud?). Can anyone offer advice on trying to do that without replacing the rest of the turnbuckle? Any recommended sources for rigging? Should I bite the bullet and go with Brion Toss Rigging? What about sailingsevices.com, Hayn marine, and bosunsupplies.com? I may just replace it all, too.

I am looking forward to getting our boat in the water again.
