The mast for Cambria (a Panda 40) is made by Kenyon and the extrusion is
exactly 58 feet long.
The mast step was teak plywood encased in fiberglass. Not a good idea. Rain
water soaked the plywood and the fiberglass was just good enough to keep the
moisture in. The step started to bulge out the bottom and the top sloped,
which made a poor support and caused all sorts of trouble in removing the
mast (it sits in a little socket on the step). If you augment your step,
check to see if it is competent and level first... We scooped out the
compost which was left and replaced it with a 2.25" aluminum plate potted in
Chockfast, a marine engine bedding agent. Very expensive dirt. The
replacement is about 1/2" taller than the original, which managed to take up
some of the slack in the standing rigging. :)
