Cetol.. Cetol is not varnish but it is maintenance free for the entire
year. If you can get the recommended four coats on bare teak you can get
away with a cruising look for two full seasons. One quick sanding with a
scrubby pad at the beginning of the season and one new coat will make it
look fresh again and it renews the UV protection. For me its the easiest
teak covering with an acceptable look and less work than varnish.
In 1997 the previous owner of Gray Eagle paid a yard $5000 a year to
maintain the exterior varnish. When I stepped aboard after closing I
told my delivery crew to take a good look at the teak because it will
never look this good again.
