OWTW's mixing elbow is (well, now was) frankly, a fatality or two
looking to happen. I got it off, excpecting to look at some corrosion
just about the pop open and found (on the side I couldn't see while it
was on the boat) a whacking great hole. Prayers offered in thanks for
lives spared...'Nuff said.

Anyway, the mixing elbow itself is made with cast aluminum but mounted
on iron pipe. A) I can't quite visualize aluminum bearing up well under
hot salt water and b) one wonders about the opportunities for galvanic
mayhem in the exhaust plumbing. OWTW has a Universal (now Westerbeke?)
M-40 but, AFAIK, elbows are not in the Universal line but added at the
owner's discretion. I'd like some input on this issue of an aluminmum
fitting.

I've talked with Torresen Marine / Marine Diesel Direct about this
project but I'd like some second (and third and fourth...) opinions.
