Far be it from me to tell granny how to suck eggs but... if there was a
lot of carbon in the ash and it landed inside the radar display and it
had a CRT display, I could see problems from arcing. I'm not sure what
would do the VHF in, though, although a lot of carbon-rich ash could
still pose a problem. I agree, though, that the more documentation of
the fire and its recovery you can locate, the better off you'll be. That
the seller is disclosing the problem is a big plus.
