We have the vented loop in the intake line and it has been there since 1986
I replaced the stainless vented loop with a maralon one a few years ago when
I replaced all the head hoses, because the the vent part of the loop that
screws on was cracked. Since that time (more than before ­ canšt really
recall if I had the problem before) the pump sucks air through the vent. To
get the pump to draw water we need to block the air hole on the vented loop
