I once had a Filipino boat boy at the Manila Yacht Club clean the
bilge on Amadon Light.
He arrived with his own cleaning implements, including a toxic-
smelling chemical cleaner.
Standing in the bilge, his head was just below the level of the cabin
sole. Worried about
losing him to the chemicals and sure we would have to sail out of
Manila with him entombed
there, I quickly borrowed a large electric fan and kept it blowing
full speed into the bilge.
And, I insisted that he stand every three minutes to take in some
clean air.

At the end of the chore, he stretched up to his full height, and
looking up at me from the
bilge, proudly said: "The Filipino person is a very small person and
can get into places that
other people can not".

He was right, and the bilge has never looked so good since.

And, speaking of "clean" that windlass installation is an especially
clean job. Nice work.
