I had a local rigger install the Profurl. They stabilized the mast with lines from the forward cleat and hawse to the masthead. They then removed the forestay. We replaced it with a new forestay. (Highly recommended if you have an older boat and if the forestay is more than 5-10 years old.) They then assembled the Profurl and all extrusions on the dock and raised the forestay and furler to the masthead. It's a bit tricky, making sure that you don't kink the extrusions.

It went well, having three people, as a 50+ foot sagging forestay and extrusions are not easily handled. One at the mast head and the other two guiding the assembly.

While you are doing that, you should also consider changing any other standing rigging that is more than 15 years old. The rationale for changing the forestay at this time is that you hope you wont have to worry about the condition of the now invisible forestay inside the extrusion for another 15 years. The most vulnerable part of the forestay is at the swages, and those are still visible.

  Profurl tells you how the parts go together (vaguely) but leave it to your own devises as how to accomplish the installation with the dock forstay on or off . . .
