I purchased two Yanmars from Cascade Marine in Portland. Also, I think you
can probably get the job done cheaper in Portland as well. Check with
Cascade, you might be able to work on the job there with help from them,
however it has been a while and new ownership so policies may have changed.
I'd like to teach a class-maybe Typing 101? That's all I seem to be doing
these days-not doing my favorite work on Moonshadow. Funny, it was the only
class I ever failed in school and the one thing that has my full attention
these days.

Good luck, you can do it!

Hello Rick

I'm in the same position you are with the BaBa 30. Last week I was in
Portland, Or. to obtain some comparable cost to having the work done in
Florida before the boat is shipped back to Oregon. The Yanmar 3YM30 in
Portland was 7500 hundred. I checked with

a nearby yard that has experience with BaBa's and was told to expect to pay
around 14K for engine and installation. I wish Tom Beard was giving a class.

Subject: [Baba-L] Engine re-power

Hi all. I'm afraid the time has come for Lorac's Volvo MD-11 to be put to
rest. This is an area where I need some insights from those with past
experience. Have any of you done a re-power from Volvo MD-11 to another
power unit. I am considering either the Yanmar; 3YM30, the Westerbeke; 30B
three or the Volvo; D1-30. I would like to know the following:

1) What rngine did you re-power with?

2) Was the installation fairly simple or highly complicated?

3) Were there any clearance issues?

4) A ball park idea of installation cost? ( probably a WEAK attempt to
defend myself fromthe marine indusry treatment)

Thanks for the help.

Fair winds, blue water.
