Allan,

Raymarine has a new AIS receiver module due out soon that will interface
with their chart plotters. See the press release "Raymarine Introduces
Automatic Identification System (AIS) Receiver 2/14/2007" on their web
site. It comes with a splitter for use with your mast top antenna.

PS As far as using a transmitter, there have been times when
navigating around Sandy Hook in the dark and fog that I would have
appreciated having a transmitter.
