Now here's something *really* neat. Head to the URL below and scroll
down to the link with the telnet data stream. According to the article,
it should be possible to use that stream with a number of programs but I
did it with Coastal Explorer. Copy the full string
telnet://66.235.48.168:3047
and start up CE. When it running, open the Tools menu, go to Options
and pick Instruments. Open Port Settings and click on Add Network
Port... Paste the telnet string in the address field, close everything
up, and scroll your maps to either Portland or Bangor, ME. And there
will be some AIS targets! The data stream seems to time out after a
while (10 minutes???) but it'll be there long enough to get a picture of
CE and AIS working. I tried it just now and watched two tugs escort a
tanker out of Portland Harbor as she left for England.

If you haven't gotten enough of what's going on, go back to Port
Settings, delete the network port and then build it all over again.
That'll restart the data stream.
