We had substantial leaks around the mast of our Panda 40, both before and
after sealing it with silicon and covering with THREE mast boots. When we
pulled the mast we epoxied the inside of the stainless collar in the cabin
roof,and for unknown reasons that stopped all the leaking. We still have two
boots, an inner one of dive suit material and an outer one of Sunbrella to
protect the inner one from the sun, and that seems to work well - at least
thru the last three or four named and wet storms. The partners are wedge
shaped rubber pieces - about twelve of them - which came with the boat (we
were the first to remove the mast) and do keep the mast centered.
Guess we would rather be lucky than good...
