Hi Bill,
I have to assume that if both Tom Beard and you think highly of the PYI
PSS, then it deserves serious consideration. As I mentioned in my previous
note, we were all set to install a PYI unit to try to finally bring our
badly leaking stuffing box under control. But we were first encouraged to
try GFO, and that has proven so reliable that we have decided to postpone
installing a PYI PSS unit only if the GFO proves untenable.
But it is largely a matter of personal taste. We use the PYI "flexible"
coupling between transmission and shaft, and are very pleased with the
results. Some people feel that the flexible coupling only hides developing
problems with alignment that can cause major tranny problems.
So it goes.
regards,
Harvey
