Hi Everyone,
Just got back from the Caribbean after taking part in last years ARC
(Atlantic rally for cruisers). Kathy and I sailed from Las Palmas in the
Canaries to St Lucia taking 22 days. I think we averaged about 5.5 knots or
130 miles/day on a dead run/broad reach for 99% of the trip.
I'm very pleased to report the boat behaved exceptionally well, we had to
put up with very rolly conditions, with a mixed wave pattern due to all the
storms heading across the Atlantic further up. We also had to put up with
frequent 35+ Knot squalls but the boat always felt 150% safe.
We should have got more publicity as we were the smallest boat in the rally;
however the ARC office got confused over the length and had us grouped with
the 36ft boats
Thanks to those who followed our progress and thanks to all in this group
who gave me invaluable advice in preparing Lady Stardust for the passage.
All the best
