We had Aquarius for about 20 years and that post was a magnet for
visitors fingers while they remarked how shiny it was! You can cover
it with all sorts of fancy rope work (see one of Brion Toss' books).
You may be sorry you put a protective coat of laquer on it as it will
most likely get chipped and tarnish in spots. Originally, they were
not laquered by Ta Shing. Think of it as just a little more of the
TLC these fine boats require...or you could trade it for a Catalina
or some such Clorox bottle!
