Haven't tried the water thing, it only has appeared in the tray, most
definitely will not try the taste test and have not tried the odor test as
well.

Oh. I had the impression this was some sort of deposit on the underside
of the engine oil pan (the metal one) and not a tray under the engine.
Backing up and trying again, does the deposit have any scent or smell to
it? Is it soluble in water? (back to salt crystals) Does it appear
anywhere else in the bilge? There is a small but definite possibility
it's some sort of mold or fungus, so I'd pass on a taste test. [smile]
