Yee . . . the thruhulls and backing plates stayed the same . . no changes
. . . Valves were whatever West Marine was selling at the time . . . Groco
I think . . . 99% of all modern valves are a quantum leap from the original
Ta Shing valves .. . . I will catch flack for this but a good valve is a
good valve . . . I am sure some are better than others but the delta is
minimal . . . just one sailor's opinion . . . Paul

Yes . . . exactly .. . . I kept the existing thruhulls . . . and added new
valves . . . no thread issue . . . when the boat turns 35 or 40 I will
swap out the thruhulls . . . everything has a lifespan . . . even thruhulls

I was wondering if they were some metric thread on the hull side of the
valve.

I have a 1979 and the thruhulls are in good shape . . . I have had only one
fail . . .

The valves on the other hand I would scrap (and have) in a heartbeat . . .

When I first bought the boat in 1993 it was on the hard. In a plumbing
frenzy we took all of the valves off and serviced them. When we went to
assemble them surprise surprise the parts of each valve were not
interchangeable. They had to be tested to find their original valve . . .
image the combinations and permutations . . . and yah and the time . . .
should have trashed them all then but one by one over the years I have rid
them all.
