As bad as that looks, mine was worse. When I found the boat and began
negotiations, I was not immediately aware of the problem. However, the
agent let me look at a copy of the survey from 6 mos prior which
mentioned them.

I walked out of the office with extreme disappointment... I made the
mistake of getting attached to the boat before buying it.

Anyway, I did some talking to people about it and got opinions anywhere
from "No big deal, no catastrophic failure has ever resulted from hull
blisters" to "I wouldn't touch it with a 10 ft pole".

Haul out day for the inspection came and while I was prepared to look at
blisters, I was not prepared for the extent. The whole hull was covered.
The surveyor mentioned the term "Friday boat" meaning the the guys were
in a hurry to get out of the shop and did a crappy job laying up the
hull.

I was able to negotiate a sig price reduction and went ahead and bought
the boat.

I have a bottom peel at CSR Marine here in Seattle then the boat dried
out for almost 2 months. There were just a couple small areas of
delamination but nothing too bad. There was a lot of styrene off-gassing
from the hull.

Then she was given an epoxy bottom job. It cost me a little over 8k for
that.

This was last Aug-Oct and I have not had the boat out of the water since
then but from what I can see she looks fine.

One thing that the yard suggested, and I think is great for any number
of reasons, is to run a dehumidifier in the boat. I do this during the
wet winters here and as well than helping to keep the hull dry, the
mold/mildew issues are gone. Head odors seem much less as well. It also
keeps me going down to the boat every week or two to empty it, therefore
keeping an eye on the boat at a time when I am in skiing mode.
