One problem with using a cellular network is that once you leave the US, it
is spotty at best. Internet users were sucking it up and paying for
satellite phones/connections. We found having the email on board using the
SSB and using the internet cafe's in other countries worked great for us.
After all, one reason to cruise was to leave SOME of this insanity behind.
Life without the internet IS still possible even though sitting here at my
desk I sometimes wonder...... Emailing was better than a phone, too. It
depends on your wants and needs. One of the things we really missed was the
Baba-L!!
