Well, I was expecting the staysail to back-wind, but it filled just as if I
had tacked correctly with the right sheet -
but we did slow down and heel less. By steering to windward, do you mean to
put the boat in irons? To steer
directly into the wind? That doesn't seem right somehow. Based on the other
responses maybe I'll try to
drop the staysail and do it just with the main - but would that be balanced
enough?
