Well - am on the boat now.
So, luckily the 3GMF has decompression levers.
Release each cylinder definitely affected the engine sound - the
engine rattled when missing a cylinder - being a 3 piston engine.
So, need another solution.

In the meantime, I have been photographing numbers and plates on the
engine and transmission.

Let's see my engine is a 3GMF with a continuous rating of 20 HP at
3400 rpm, serial number 07115.

I am having a harder time reading the info plate for the clutch:

It is a Kanazki, serial number 6724 (I think), Model KM3-1 or maybe KM3-A.

The gear ratio is what I am trying to snare - since that has
something to do with the prop setting -- it is hard to read - maybe
2.04 but am not sure. I am going to clean it off and check again.

The specs have 3 possible reduction ratios ahead/astern of:

2.36/3.16
2.61/3.16
3.20/3.16

So I am not aure what the gear ratio on the plate means.
