Ironic that the Baba List should have as a topic: Baba list! Anyway,
recently my battery charger committed murder/suicide: killed the
batteries before killing itself. Turns out the PO had paralleled an
8D (BIG mother) and a 27 as the house bank, with another 27 as the
starter battery. ARC battery here in Sausalito told me that putting 2
different size batteries in parallel was a big no-no, and suggested
instead a single "super" 8D (deeper plates, more amp-hours than
standard) as a single house battery. So - out went an 8D and a 27, in
came a slightly heavier 8D, but not as heavy as the 2 removed; and
the 27 had been further to starboard (all batteries under the
starboard quarterberth). Result: almost as many amp-hours capacity,
and noticeably less list to starboard. Someday I will have a boat
whose lead keel is also a big battery...
