I've priced a bimini from IndyCanvas.com (I have no relation to the company)
and using their measurement chart for height, width, length, length of slot
for rear stay... the price for a 3-bow 1" stainless bimini made of Sunbrella
was $479. I've not asked for quotes from any of the local canvas shops so
I'm not sure if that's high or low. Seems pretty reasonable to me since it
includes the frame.

My full dodger will need new skins soon and I'm toying with the idea of
trying to do it myself but will probably send it out. Walking the docks I
see a lot of dodger windows that are clear and easy to see through and some
that are faded, crazed, scratched, faded etc etc... I'm wondering if there
are newer materials that they can use to make it function more like a window
and less like a piece of plastic. I did make a butterfly hatch cover last
year out of nylon with two plastic windows, and the results were not very
impressive. Of course it was my first sewing project and it was on a
borrowed Singer home machine, so perhaps I could do better with a
walking-foot machine designed for canvas work.

One project at a time though... back to sanding and varnishing!
