wood + water - air = dryrot. Or something like that.
Where I found this stuff was the sucppers and a little bit where one
chainplate passes through the deck. The most alarming spot however, was in
one of the laminates in the bowsprit under the windlass. Definitely
something to check. Looked okay on the surface, but a poke with a
screwdriver proved otherwise. A new bowsprit does not sound like an
inexpensive item.
