Speaking out of near irrelevance, this question brings up the apocryphal
story of the novice charterers who radio their base, asking for new
anchors to be sent out as they'd "used up all the anchors on the boat".
They are, of course, stunned to hear they're expected, when leaving
anchorage, to bring the anchors back on board... The story is almost
certainly apocryphal but, while diving in Virgin Gorda Sound, I found a
complete anchor and rode lying on the bottom (and wished I could find
some cruisers to tell them where to get a free spare hook... no such
luck). The bitter end was clearly not cut; was this ground tackle left
behind by these same novice charterers?
Cheers,
Rick
