I use a combination of varnish (Interlux Schooner, great stuff though I've
been tempted to try Epifanes Gloss Finish for quick build-up coats followed
by Epifanes Clear High-Gloss Varnish for the top coat) and Bristol Finish,
the covered stuff usually gets varnish. I prefer the working characteristics
of traditional vanish but living 300 miles from my boat I like the relative
speed of Bristol. Bristol can also be wet sanded and buffed for a super deep
shine. Cetol is OK and I have many friends that use it, but I think the
extra effort of varnished is well worth the return.
