I've found it helpful to hook a link with a chain hook a few feet below the
bow roller and run the line back and through the hawse pipe to the samson
post. When you snug up the line, it takes the strain off the windlass and
pulls the anchor rode away from your bowsprit cable. It seems to solve that
pesky rubbing problem under nearly all conditions.

Good luck,

  Hello all,

Im wondering if you'all can help me solve an achoring problem I
experienced this weekend. I was at a very calm anchorage so my anchor
chain went strait down, there was no pull from the boat with current or
wind. All night long, the anchor chain rubbed against the cable that runs
from the bow sprit to the water line.

I have an anchor snubber but I don't see how that would have helped the
sitation. I have anchored previously but given that there is a little wind
or current, it generally keeps me off the chain.

I'm sure someone has a way to resolve this annoying problem.

  Thanks a bunch!
