Yes, the flap alone was worth the change in transducers. Now I don't
hesitate to pull out the speedo for cleaning or when the boat is not used
for a week or so. I have the procedure down to a three paper towel job.

One noteworthy feature in changing from Datamarine to Raymarine:
Raymarine's through-hull includes a flap that greatly reduces the flow
of water when pulling the transducer. It doesn't seal completely, but
what used to be a near geyser (with the fully open Datamarine
through-hull) is reduced to a far more managable flow rate.
