The PO of our boat installed a flexible holding tank. At first, I loathed
it. It smelled awful and I was wary of its durability. However, over the
past few seasons I've decided to keep it.

Last year I cleaned the entire works thoroughly and that got rid of the
awful smell - imagine that! (slapping forehead)

After every pumpout, we put about a cup of pink (or green, or purple, or
whatever color it is) tank treatment stuff into the tank.

The nice thing about the flexible tank is that it can be completely pumped
out. When there's very little waste left, simply lift up the tank so the
hose is at the bottom. This also makes it easier to clean.

Like a lot of boat stuff, things seem to work out when you put just a little
thought behind it. I'm just not too sure about the durability.

Our sailing consists of daysails on weekends. Plus, we have free pumpout at
any marina. However, we also have many guests throughout the year including
a lot of kids under 10, so the head definitely gets a workout. Last season
(June - September) we pumped out 3 times and had no odor problems.

I like simple things and this seems to be a very simple setup. Anyone else
using a flexible tank?
