If you are going to be pulling the prop shaft anyway, why not do it now? I=

you are not pulling the prop shaft why not wait until shortly before you
launch so that there is no chance of damage while sitting. (Of course if
the shaft will be turning fast, and the bearing is currently badly worn I
suppose you could damage the transmission).

Diesels aren't real happy running in neutral, and in fact (as I have been
told), should get a workout while loaded if they are started. That suggest=
s
that running the engine to warm it up with no load is not the best idea.
