Jack,

In my opinion, if you did something to ruffle peoples feathers (my own
included), it was mostly an issue of disclosure. When I started reading
your posts, I thought you were quoting email correspondence you had with
the owner of HighSeasDrifter. This is something people often do to
share a response they've gotten from some commercial entity. For
instance, Rick Emerson has posted email correspondence he's had with the
Cap'n software people.

In your initial posting it looked like you had stumbled across the DVD
deal and wanted to share it. Not mentioning that you are the proprietor
of the business "feels" a little misleading.

As far as commercial content goes, I'm not against it as a matter of
principal. Of course, a blatant ad like the spam we all receive is
unwelcome, but I don't have a problem with a posting stating, here is a
product I developed, it might be of interest to people, let me know if
you'd like to discuss it.
