Hi Allen. I am out of town and will not be back until November 2nd or 3rd. I
will be happy to send you pictures of the windlass set-up. It did not
require any mounting plates. The windlass is U-bolted in top of the bow
sprit. The chain fits quite well in the chain locker. I did have to cut out
a hole on the port side of the deck in the bow well for the 5/8" nylon rode.
I cut this to match the orientation of the starboard hawse whole. This also
required the cutting of the grate. By the way, this will make one very
nervous. As far as 1/2" chain goes, it might be hard to find a manual
windlass with a 1/2" gypsy.
