I just repowered my Baba 35 with a Yanmar. The only
surprise was that the engine bed stringers were not
symmetrical. By this I mean that if you extend the
prop shaft/centerline of the engine, the starboard
stringer was 1" closer to centerline than the port
stringer. I got around the problem by having offset
brackets made(from the engine mounts to the block).
Also, don't discount the cost of upgrading the
exhaust. To change from the old Universal's 2" to the
Yanmar's 3" cost about $700.
