What model did you rigger suggest?

Hawse holes? Do you mean the holes that go down to the chain
locker? Moving them should not be a major piece of work - I never thought
of doing that. It might make more sense to get the right windlass, and
then move the holes to fit.
After all, since the old holes will be under the grating (you will need new
grating), the patch of the old holes is no big deal.

Do not forget a washdown pump while you are doing this.

I was told to put an ancillary batter up in the bow - not to try to
run heavy cable from the house battery.

I am looking at a Lofrans Tigres - people swear by them. Maybe a little big
for the Baba 30. This is a winter project for me as well, so, I will let
you prove the concept!!!

Then I would add on 100 feet of hi test chain - maybe even stainless.
