I have encountered this shouting comment on other lists and I just need to
respond.

Through history it has been normal to type in capital letters to MAKE AN
IMPORTANT POINT or to HIGHLIGHT AN ITEM or to NOTE A NEW HEADING, as a show
of EXCITEMENT, or for any number of things.

It is sad that some computer users have begun to consider it shouting in
emails. I will continue to use capital letters WHEN I WISH to make a point,
and if someone takes it as shouting--well...
