My Pilot House was never set up properly to sail as a cutter, as far as I
can tell. I have primary winches in the cockpit and one secondary, which I
believe was set up for a staysail boom. The boat never had a staysail boom,
so I use the winch for the Genoa furling line, as needed.

After viewing your photo, I like the idea of trying to set up a staysail
track on the Pilot House roof, inside the shrouds, and two secondary winche=
s
on the roof, also. I'll have to see how that would layout.

We fly a 'factory' configuration: Yankee/Staysail/Main. There has been a lo=

of discussion about flying a large headsail and making the inner stay
removeable. Bob Perry thinks this is a good idea and it probably is. But, w=

find that the two small headsails give us a great deal of flexibility. Plus=

these sails are easy to handle. Sure, this setup is not conducive to
anything under 5 knots, but above that (which is the only time we sail
anyway), she's a dream. And it looks way cool!

In any case, you can see from the pictures that we have very little issue
with chafe from the coming or from the rigging.
