Well, depends on where the through-hulls are. Below the waterline
through-hulls with seacocks, strictly speaking, should be closed when
leaving the boat. Cockpit drain through-hulls, though, should be above
the waterline and present less risk (unless the boat's on a mooring
where seas could be an issue, I guess). However, at least on OWTW, that
joker Huang has made it will neigh impossible to secure the galley
drain, engine raw water inlet and outlet, and the reefer heat exchange
inlet; I'm willing to make an exception for the bilge pump
through-hull. Any line that connects to raw water should be double
clamped (one clamp should do it but a "belt and suspenders" approach is
a good idea here) although, at least on anchor or tied up, it's unlikely
a hose, if properly seated and clamped, will work off a barb. Heaven
knows I've dealt with more than enough hoses that, even when I wanted
them to, refused to come unstuck!
