It sounds like a fading transmission. There are clutches inside many
trannys. A quick check of the transmission fluid will help here. Pump
or drain the existing fluid out and give it a sniff (hint: put some
fluid in a fresh, clean, unscented jar and wave air past the mouth of
the jar to get a scent; sticking your nose in the jar may be ...ah...
jarring?). If it smells like fresh ATF, then the clutches are less of a
suspect but I think you'll get something like burned cork. If so, keep
in mind the cost of some tranny rebuilds may be more(!) than a new
tranny. Have a nice day. [smile] Oh, and don't forget to put fresh
ATF in before running the engine again. [grin]
Cheers,
Rick Emerson
