Hi Rich,
I googled Amanu and came up with a couple of cruising logs. Apparently
it has a rather nice anchorage (50', sand with coral heads - bring lots
of chain) as well as pearl farms and a small village. I've been reading
"In the South Seas" by Robert Louis Stevenson. It's a cruising log from
the late 1800s. It's strange to hear him complain of how the islands
have been "spoiled".
