Hmm....

The quote I got for recaulking (by a 'pro') had 3 zeros after it, not
including the decimal point.

Of course, if you can get the boat to Baja Naval, you should be able to get
it done cheaper. Ha.

One recommendation I've seen is to take the pointy part of a file (the part
intended for a handle), heat it and bend it. This is about the same size as
the seam.

For caulking, I highly recommend getting a power caulker. Ryobi makes one.
