The final service our old Volvo did for us was to lay in the back of a pick-up truck and be seen by customs on the way to the US, allowing us to get our paperwork stamped as "marine diesel engine leaving for repair". Not Volvo leaving for repair, just a marine diesel. We returned two days later to the customs office with our (Yanmar) marine diesel clean, painted silver/gray, in a wooden shipping box, which was readmitted to Mexico as our "marine diesel engine out for repairs". Isn't it just amazing what you can get done in the States? Anyway, no tax on it at all...
