Greetings- This is not a Baba specific question, but
with the amount of knowledge on this list I have to
give it a shot. Is there an easy fix to synchronize a
14 pole alternator(Balmar) to a 12 pole
tachometer(Yanmar)? To make a long journey short...
1. The stock alternator could not be converted to to
external regulation due to the field polarity being
different than most external regulators(This was a
shock to me, but verified by my local alternator
shop/guru and Balmar).
2. The tachometer does not have that neat little knob
on the back allowing for such an adjustment.
3. The tachometer also contains the hour
meter(digital), so I really don't want to swap it out.
4. The tachometer works, but reads high. The higher
the rpm's, the more error.
5. I have a manual tach and can make a conversion
chart/graph.
All I can think to do is get some paint and change the
markings on the tach face and be done with it...It's
not a big deal, but with a brand new engine it would
be nice if there was some inline fix for the tach
input.

PS We are finally going cruising this month, probably
a shakedown to the Abacos. Anyone else going that
way?
