There has been a PYI Shaft Seal on Amadon Light for about 18 years.
There has never been a problem with it, and we replace it every
five years. Not just the bellows and O rings, but the whole thing.
The bellows never looked worn or deteriorated. It is one of the
better products available.

The only problem I have heard was on two boats. On both, the bellows
was not fitted all the way onto the shaft log, and the hose clamps were
over-tightened. Not too long after installation, the rear end of the
bellows slid off the shaft log allowing water to enter. As long as the
shaft log is in good condition and extends far enough to fully-fit
the bellows on, there should not be such a problem.
