On one occasion, we happened to be in Charleston, SC,-wintering over after
our circumnavigation- when we needed new boat fabric. We went backcountry to
a mill town (can't remember where now) and shopped for fabric at a factory
outlet store. We purchased remnants for auto upholstery. It was quality
stuff at extremely low costs. Problem is, you have to find a partial roll
that is sufficient to do the entire job. Sometimes tough to find and in a
fabric you desire. But the looking is fun and can be very rewarding. If you
happen to be in the Carolinas-or close.
